It’s been a while.

Hey there,

it’s been a while, since I blogged of an adventure what doesn’t mean, that there was nothing interesting. The main theme of my last months is an ever growing stack of challenges.

Elbe sandstone mountains in early spring - black and white

The one big challange is finding a new home. My wife an I visited a many houses and also builing companies to plan our future home. We thought, we will have some time... Unfortunately, the new owner has terminated our tenancy agreement, which means the pressure is mounting and we need to find a solution by September. Building a house isn’t feasible by then, though that was actually our preferred option. We’d already drawn up plans for a house and started looking for a plot, but we’ll have to shelve that for now (probably for good).

How ever, spring is comming and to clear my head, I start spending more and more time outdoors. Four weeks ago I was hiking in the elbe sandstone mountains. It was the first longer hike for last months and I wanted to try some new paths. So I spend some time updating one of my routes and tried it out.

Right at the start, I was taken by surprise by a steep, alpine-style climb with some scrambling sections. I’m not entirely sure-footed at heights and usually need a few hikes to get used to the exposed sections, which is why this section became such a mental challenge for me. But it was doable, and the view at the end was fantastic.

The further journey was an constant up and down (of elevation, not emotion) and was planned to train the fitness.

At the start of May, I’m off hiking in Franconian Switzerland; then, if I manage it and have the energy, I might post a few longer articles with lots of photos, hopefully.

Otherwise, over the coming weeks, we’ll be sorting out a house or looking for a new flat. I’ll keep you posted.
